From cancer to back problems, this calorie free sweetener has been put through a wise assortment of test that concern the health of anyone that consumes this product. So, what do the studies actually say about this diet lover's sweetener?

Aspartame has been put in many popular products since the 1980s, but many people still don't trust the use of this artificial sweetener in their foods. Although most will gladly pick up a diet soda, many still don't fully understand what this product is and how it works. Aspartame is a combination of amino acids that actually sweetens two hundred time more than sugar does. With less of this product needed to sweeten, you get a low calorie treat that can be enjoyed without the guilt.

So, can this amino acid combo actually harm? Well, yes and no. Before this product could be released to the public there had to be restrictions on how much of this product could be put into foods. A person should consume no more than 50 milligrams of aspartame per kilogram of body weight. This is quite a bit of aspartame a day, so unless you drink more than a 20 pack of diet soda a day you will be fine.

You can set your mind at ease when it comes to aspartame. There have been so many studies on this artificial sweetener that if there actually were a problem it would be pulled from the market. Of course, if you still don't want to consume this substance then make sure to check out all of your food products before you buy them. Aspartame doesn't have to be a scary part of your diet, just watch your intake like you would do with anything else and try to enjoy your foods.
